About
« I work my clay by infusing it with wild, raw materials, with the intention of introducing unpredictability into the firing process and creating a connection between the inside and the outside of the piece. »
Sandra Suarez Chachapoyas began her Fine Arts studies in Peru before continuing in Paris, where she earned a BA and MA in Contemporary Art, Media, and Design. An exchange at the School of Fine Arts in Granada (Spain) in 2014 marked her first encounter with ceramics, a long-awaited moment. Back in France, she continued her professional training at Duperré, EMA-CNIFOP, and the Maison de la Céramique de Dieulefit, earning diplomas as an artist-ceramist, a professional wheel-thrower, and in glaze formulation. Her practice has developed through apprenticeships in various studios, focusing on firing processes and the integration of clay with wild and contextual materials.
