Sandra Suarez Chachapoyas began her Fine Arts studies in Peru before continuing in Paris, where she earned a BA and MA in Contemporary Art, Media, and Design. An exchange at the School of Fine Arts in Granada (Spain) in 2014 marked her first encounter with ceramics, a long-awaited moment. Back in France, she continued her professional training at Duperré, EMA-CNIFOP, and the Maison de la Céramique de Dieulefit, earning diplomas as an artist-ceramist, a professional wheel-thrower, and in glaze formulation. Her practice has developed through apprenticeships in various studios, focusing on firing processes and the integration of clay with wild and contextual materials.

My ceramic practice emerges from a physical and intuitive relationship to clay and place, exploring the dialogue between body, material, and landscape. I work with local clays, combining them with wild inclusions such as minerals and other materials gathered from nature. I prepare different clay bodies mixed with wild grogs, charging the matter with traces, fragments, and stories. My pieces evoke ritual grounds, offerings, and geological echoes, drawing from traditions that honor earth and water cycles. Through presence, gesture, and transformation, each piece becomes a resonant form, a threshold between past and present, surface and depth, an archaeology of the sensible.
